Knowledge is power. Or in this case, knowledge can save you power. Rolled out to our members in January 2013, the member portal provides both daily and hourly meter readings for your account. For those of you with the newest meters, you can actually get 15-minute readings.
This information is invaluable in understanding how, when and why you use energy. And that’s the first step in learning where you’ll find your best energy savings opportunities. The portal makes it possible to conduct your own testing to see what drives your daily energy costs.
Cut your water heater breaker off for a 12 to 24 hour period. How does that impact energy use?
Set your air conditioner thermostat a few degrees higher. How does that impact daily consumption?
While you are logged into the member portal, remember to set up a high energy use alert! They are free and can be delivered to you via text or email. We typically recommend most members set up a high energy use alert for $7.00 but you can adjust it higher or lower as needed.
