What to do if an emergency conversation alert is issued
Proactive utility management includes having a game plan in the event regional power supplies struggle to meet demand. While rare, the public may be asked to take an active role in resource management during extreme temperature events or major transmission outages. While Tideland does not anticipate that being the case during Winter Storm Gianna, there are steps you can take if an emergency conversation alert is issued.
- Cut your water heater off at the breaker
- Delay major appliance use including the oven and clothes dryer
- Power off all non-essential electric loads
- If you have a non-electric heat source you can rely on, do so during the alert period
Once an all-clear alert is issued by Tideland, normal activities can resume.
