Rate Schedules

All Tideland EMC rates are subject to the following:

NC REPS (renewable energy portfolio standard) 

30¢/month per residential meter
$1.50/month per small commercial meter
$15.00/month per large commercial meter

WPCA (wholesale power cost adjustment)

A per kWh credit or charge when applicable based on the trending cost of wholesale power purchases. 

North Carolina sales tax: 7%

Some agricultural operations may be eligible for sales tax exemption in which case NC Department of Revenue Form E-595E must be submitted to Tideland to confirm eligibility. Qualifying criteria include:

1) Engage in activities classified as agricultural production;

2) Meet the gross income requirements set by NCDOR; and

3) Use the electricity exclusively for farming purposes.

Each account must submit a separate form to qualify for the exemption. 

Residential Electric Rates 1 and 3 (effective April 1, 2026)

Basic facilities:

$34.30 Underground (minimum monthly bill $40.67)

12.48¢ Summer (May - October)
11.49¢ Winter (November - April)

Residential Time-of-Use Electric Rates 2 and 4 (effective April 1, 2026)

minimum bill is the basic facilities plus $1.60 per kVA of transformer capacity in excess of 15 kVA

Demand (per kWd):

No charge for the first 15 kWd
$5.76 per kWd > 15 kWd

Large Power Service Rate 9 (effective April 1, 2026)

Basic facilities: $235.00

minimum bill is the basic facilities plus $1.60 per kVA of transformer capacity in excess of 100 kVA

Energy (per kWh): 6.335¢

Demand (per kWd): $9.44

Reactive Demand (per KVAr): $1.25

Small Renewable Generation Purchased Power (up to 50 kW)

Monthly price assumes that the outdoor lighting fixture can be attached to an existing electric utility pole. Tideland EMC is responsible for the energy used by the outdoor light and normal maintenance. If the outdoor light cannot be attached to an existing pole, a pole charge of $2.20 per pole per month will be added to the monthly bill. Additional one time installation fee may apply for underground service. Developers or property owners associations should contact us for bulk pricing and quotes on decorative fixtures.
