Alerts and member portal data can help prevent high bills

As temperatures plunge, energy consumption increases. If you have not signed up for a high energy use alert, we encourage you to do so today. You can enroll via the member portal or by calling our office at 252-943-3046. When setting the alert up we generally recommend a daily alert level of $7 or $8. Depending on your average consumption you may increase or decrease it accordingly. Alerts can be delivered via text or email. Any day that your energy use is higher than the alert level you will be sent a message. Then you can decide whether the energy use seems justified based on outdoor temperatures and household activities or whether it indicates a potential problem with your HVAC system or water heater.

We also highly encourage you to access the member portal so you can track your daily energy consumption. Yes, extreme weather means higher energy use. But it can also point to a very real HVAC system problem or hot water leak that you didn't notice before.

So use the power of the member portal to take control of your energy use today!
