HANDI PAY BANK DRAFT
As a value added service Tideland EMC offers free & convenient payment of your
electric bill through automatic bank draft. When you sign up for bank draft, your meter is
still read on the same schedule. Youll have at least ten days to examine your
monthly statement before your bank account is drafted. We notify the bank of the amount of
your bill. Once it is paid your bank will list the payment on your monthly statement so
you can maintain accurate banking records. To request a brochure about bank draft or to
sign up for this valuable free service call 1-800-637-1079.
BUDGET BILLING
Also called "levelized billing", this no-cost payment option is available to
members who have maintained a Tideland EMC electric account for at least twelve
consecutive months. Budget billing allows residential members to pay the same amount on
their electric account eleven months out of the year. Payments are based on the amount of
electricity used the previous year. During the twelfth month Tideland EMC "evens
out" the account and recalculates the budget billing amount for the next eleven
months. For a no-obligation estimate of your Budget Billing amount call 1-800-637-1079.
PAY STATIONS
You may pay your Tideland EMC electric bill at any of eight pay stations throughout our
service area. Keep in mind that you must 1) pay the full amount shown due on your electric
bill and 2) have your current electric bill with you at time of payment.

PAY BY
CREDIT CARD
Tideland EMC accepts major credit cards for payment of your electric bill. You may pay by
phone, through written authorization via your electric bill payment stub or automatically
every month with your authorization. Call 1-800-637-1079 to activate. You may also pay on
line by returning to our home page.
NIGHT DEPOSITORY
Tideland EMC maintains after-hours payment collection boxes at its Grantsboro and Pantego
offices. There is a day-time drop box at the Ocracoke office. Remember to include the
bottom portion of the monthly statement so your account is properly credited.
Tideland EMC is a not-for-profit cooperative. Therefore, any monies remaining after all
expenses are paid are returned to our members through a series of capital credit refunds.
Capital credits represent each members ownership of the Cooperative. These funds are
retained at year end to build and maintain the electric system. When our lenders are
satisfied that sufficient funds exist to maintain our system and keep pace with future
growth, previously allocated capital credits are returned to those we serve. The amount
returned to individual members is dependent upon the total paid for electricity during the
year for which the allocation was made. Capital credits are normally refunded during the
month of December and are either issued as a credit on the members electric bill or
in the form of a check. Should you move out of the Tideland EMC service area, please
provide us with your new address so future capital credit checks can be properly
delivered. Representatives of deceased member estates should contact the Cooperative to
determine the status of any outstanding capital credits.
